On the 2nd, Oricon published the results of a survey asking for the "Fresh Stars" of the first half of 2009, young stars that left the biggest impressions so far. Actress Yoshitaka Yuriko and actor Mizushima Hiro came out as the freshest of them all.
Yoshitaka is really grateful for such positive feelings about her person. "I think of this result as a response to my growth. I’m really grateful. Thank you very much." She had her big breakthrough in 2008 in the movie "Snakes and Earrings" that gained her several best newcomer prizes like at the Blue Ribbon Awards or the Japanese Academy Awards. Her activity continued in 2009 with a role in the movie "Gravity’s Clowns" or the doramas "Love Shuffle" and "Shiroi Haru". Many people expect her to become even more active later this year and the following and it looks she might even exceed those expectations. Her relationship with fellow actor Tamaki Hiroshi also made a lot more people become aware of her, especially those who missed to see her performances so far.
Actress Ayase Haruka is someone who is constantly in the limelight and can always be found in the top ranks of such surveys. This time is no different and she made it on the 2nd place. One man in his 40s commented, "She does a lot of movies and doramas. Everyone around me sees her as the No.1 right now." Eikura Nana came in 3rd and recently scored a lot of points with her dorama "Meichan no Shitsuji" and her impressive acting in "April Bride".
