NHK just listed 21 more people for the cast of next year’s taiga dorama (the long-running historical dorama) "Ryomaden" with singer Fukuyama Masaharu (40) in the leading role as Sakamoto Ryoma.
Actress Maki Yoko (26), who just gave birth to a baby girl in May is going to play Ryoma’s wife Narasaki Ryo (also known as Oryo) in the dorama. The chief producer explains why they chose Maki for the role. "She (Narasaki) is a dignified woman all by herself and has a strange mysterious feeling surrounding her. Maki can perform such a role the best." Maki herself about the role, "I’m going to play her in my own way." It looks like she will give the character a lot of her own uniqueness, definitely not a bad thing.
The rest of the cast is full of big names as usual for taiga doramas. Hirosue Ryoko (28) is going to play Ryoma’s first love, Kagawa Teruyuki (43) is going to play the role of Iwasaki Yataro and Omori Nao (37) will make his taiga debut as well.
