The recent cancellation of Sawajiri Erika’s contract by her agency Stardust Promotions might eventually become a much bigger problem for the agency itself. They are loosing a lot of trust from fellow agencies and from their own signed talents.
Stardust is known for having a great portfolio of popular actresses such Tokiwa Takako, Takeuchi Yuko, Shibasaki Kou and so on. Actresses alone usually don’t make a movie successful and thus you should always put a famous actor on their side. For a long time now Stardust have been suspected to have some kind of relationship with Johnny’s, Japan’s greatest source for highly popular male idols of all kinds. Both agencies were able to create some really popular pairings in doramas and movies alike such as Tokiwa and Kimura Takuya in "Beautiful Life", Shibasaki and Kimura in "Good Luck!!" and many more.
However, that relationship might not be that healthy anymore. The most recent reason seems to be the often talked about movie "Space Battleship Yamato" starring Johnny’s Kimura Takuya. Both sides unofficially agreed to have Sawajiri as the heroine in that movie, but due to the cancellation of her contract, Stardust suddenly had to pull her out of the movie. This outcome is supposed to have turned SMAP’s female chief manager into a really bad mood.
"Based on the very close relationship between Stardust and that manager, they unofficially agreed on Sawajiri for the role. However, one side then suddenly nullified this agreement and caused their relationship to become much more unpleasant. Sure, it might have been an accident and they had no choice but to pull her out of the movie, but a ‘contract cancellation’ can always be interpreted as ‘self convenience’ as well." An insider from the mass media told us.
That’s not all. The relationship of mutual trust between Stardust and their talents might have gotten another big crack recently. Several years ago a representative from Stardust married a talent signed at the same agency, which is said to have already triggered to weaken the relationship between the agency and their talents a lot, but now they did something even more outrageous. Stardust announced that they are going to do a drug test with all of their talents, the first every agency to carry out something like that. Obviously this sounds like they aren’t trusting their talents anymore, even though they might have good intentions with doing such a tests.
Stardust definitely has a lot of fires inside and outside their own home and they better try to extinguish them soon before they won’t be able to control them anymore.

To tell the truth, I saw that coming after the drug-test announcement. There is no way huge stars like Tokiwa Takako, Takeuchi Yuko or Shibasaki Kou would accept that without complaining…
Stardust kind of deserves it after their unprofessional behavior with regards to Erika.
I sure hope, though, that other, not as established actresses, won’t be hurt by all this. Isn’t Kaho a Stardust talento too?
I really can’t get which side is wrong… the situation is complicated and it can’t be correctly understood by outsiders. Maa, jp itself can’t be understood, generelly. Somehow, I dun wanna S.Erika leave like that, then dun wanna Stardust has a scandal, either. Just hope for everthing ends and no “damage”.
