On Monday was a talk event after the performance of Ishihara Satomi’s current play "Kumikyoku Gyakusatsu". The play is about Kobayashi Takiji, a famous novelist especially known for his work "The crab-canning boat". Ishihara plays his lover, a very honest woman called Takiko. At the event she talked about a lot of things. "It’s a 3-hours long play. I basically only go home to sleep, that’s how much this play occupies my time. However, when actually performing it feels like it’s over right after the audience entered the theater." Further she revealed that she still has stagefright before the performances. "I become so nervous that I get a stomach ache… but I guess that’s normal when you go on a stage, right?"
That nervousness never was strong enough to keep her from going on stage, though. "I’m concentrating so much on the performance that the stomach ache simply goes away." Later a fan also asked her what kind of "cosplay"/outfit she would like to try on at her next project. "When I starred as a nurse in a dorama, I got the whole outfit and can transform into a nurse anytime! The outfit I want to wear the most is a school uniform… but I guess I can’t wear something like that anymore. It would work in a flashback scene, though."
After the talk event Ishihara also had interviews with the press corps. "It’s fun (to perform this play), because every day I’m able to discover new things. I think there’s some variety (in this role)." She talked about her role of Takiko. Inoue Hisashi is in charge of this play and he is known for changing or adding whole parts in his scripts. "I’d like to tell him to get more straight with his lines, but it’s still okay. You know, today he visited us backstage and praised us!" She explained with a smile. People especially praise the 4 scenes where they are singing some songs. "I don’t know how good I am (at singing)…, but at least I became able to sing without a shaking voice." She added proudly.
In Tokyo you’ll be able to watch this play until the 25th. Afterwards there’ll be more performances in Hyogo and Yamagata.
