Prime Time Report – Dorama Time Slots – #Week 46
Just ratings alone don’t say a lot. Here you can actually find out what shows your favorite dorama is competing with in its time slot.
Some titles are shortened!

#Monday – November 09

The Monday starts off with the well-known jidaigeki dorama "Mito Komon" that is already in its 40th season. With 10.3% it reached its highest rating this season, but it’s still some points below the average rating of the previous season. The biggest winner was "World Great TV" on NTV with 16.8%, followed by NHK’s "Kanpai" with 15.6%. As usual, TV Asahi aired their quiz/variety show "Qsama!!" (12.9%) and Fuji TV their music show >Hey!Hey!Hey!< (12.5%). TV Tokyo came in last with 3.4% for their show called "Gyakuryo".

The 9pm slot is usually lead by Fuji TV’s getsu9 dorama. This season it’s a series called "Tokyo DOGS" as we all know and this week it got 16.1%, a slight improvement over the big downfall last week. NHK never fails to get a nice amount of viewers with their 9pm news show "News Watch 9" (12.6%) and veteran Beat Takeshi made 12.4% of the viewers laugh with his Monday show on TV Asahi called "Beat Takeshi’s TV Tackle". NTV beat Takeshi this time with notable 12.5% for "Fukuii Hanashi" and TBS can be satisfied with the 11.7% for their rerun of the dorama SP "Zaimu Sosakan Amamiya Ruriko 4" in their "Monday Golden" time slot. Still last, but not surprised, TV Tokyo and their show called "Yarisugi Kouji" (5.8%).

#Tuesday – November 10

Tuesday was the start of "Liar Game 2" on Fuji TV and it made some good 12.4% in a difficult time slot. At 9pm it had to compete against NHK’s news show "News Watch 9" that even broke the 20 with 20.4%. NTV still aired the Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup of the Women and 13.3% still wanted to watch the match between Japan and China at 9pm. "London Hearts" on TV Asahi didn’t help the start of Liar Game 2 either and scored a nice 12.8%. TV Tokyo achieved 10.6% with their show "Kaiun! Nandemo Kantei Dan"
while TBS decided to air a traveler’s guide for Vienna called "Wien 2009", only 7% of the people were interested in Europe’s capital for nice music and other arts.

10pm means "Hodo Station" on TV Asahi. It’s another very popular news program in Japan and this Tuesday it made some noteworthy 22%. With 10.6% Fuji TV’s dorama "Real Clothes" starring Karina stayed over 10% and NTV’s variety show "Majo-tachi no 22-ji" can be happy with their 10.7% as well. A total of 9% wanted to watch TBS’ "Lincoln" while at least 6.9% decided to watch "Professional Shigoto no Ryugi" on NHK. TV Tokyo and their "Gaia no Yoake" came in last with only 5.9%

about Tokyo Dogs, I can see that it has a good rating compared to another

liar game 2 is more exciting…just from watching without subs
but I’ll wait for subs to understand much bout what they said

    Tokyo Dogs, I haven’t watched
    and not interested…

But, JIN I want to see it
    it seems a good drama

  6. SeCt0r7 says:

Tokyo dogs to me doesn’t deserve such a high rating..plain boring.I think its the 2 ikemen that is pulling in the viewership.

  7. Jan says:

What the others said – this is a GREAT idea! Please keep it up, if at all possible.

Any particular reason why DOGS went south that badly last week? What did it compete against?

Giar Game 2 deserves higher ratings, really…

  8. HPriest says:

    @Jan
I’d say that last week it lost some points to TBS’s Monday Golden dorama SP. TBS aired “The Murder of Ono Komachi” and achieved ratings of 14.1%. That’s 2% more than this week…
Tokyo DOGS still was the most watched show on Monday 9pm last week.

  9. Jan says:

Yeah, that puts things into perspective. And maybe DOGS also loses out a bit due to the silliness of Hiro’s role. At least that’s what I keep reading on the net about his role – I didn’t find it that bad when I sampled it raw. Almost every Japanese dorama has a role like that, and they usually enhance the overall package.

Still, Liar Game needs higher ratings. Hell, Erika needs higher ratings.
