There it is, Oricon’s 4th survey asking the people who they would like to have as their sweetheart. They have been doing this survey since 2006 and it always resulted in an interesting Top10. The boyfriend edition didn’t get published yet, but this site here only cares about the girlfriend edition anyway.
Who is it? Who makes us like to imagine having her as our girlfriend the most? This year it’s no other than Ayase Haruka who got herself the first place for the first time. "Her looks, her voice. Even the fact that she’s a little airhead. Just perfect." To quote one of her fans. Ayase seems to combine a lot of different charms that make her the ideal girlfriend for many Japanese men.
The 2nd place goes to Aragaki Yui who has always been in the Top5 in this survey. People like her pure image that she established with all of her energetic "Pocky" commercials. This year she became a "new adult" and a bit more composed. Her fans seem to like her more mature behavior as well and pushed her up by 2 positions.
Ueto Aya had to give away her 1st spot, but the 3rd place is still something to be proud of (…if you can really be proud of such surveys). "She’s healthy and cheerful." / "Her cheerfulness is really nice." It’s her fresh smile that makes her an ideal girlfriend and thanks to her "Oronamin C Drink" commercials she has a really nice and healthy image as well.

I’m glad that Masamin is still in top5 and I’m quite surprised to see YUI in the chart. I really like her.It’s nice to see her popularity increases.
Sometimes i’d like to see a more “grown up” woman in this category.
There are lot’s of attractive women over 25 in Japan(Takeuchi Yuko for example)
sure Ayase is pretty but choosing her because she’s an airhead…..
Maki’s popularity is growing it seems which is nice.

Takeuchi Yuko is way more than just “attractive”. All around awesome is more like it, I think.
That being said, I’m a bit appalled at Japanese males. They don’t have an inkling how awesome Japanese women are.
Last, but not least: I’m very pleased that Masami’s still at #5. I guess her overall popularity is more enduring than people tend to think. You go, girl!
Out of that top 10 for sure I would pick Ayase Haruka for #1. Ueto Aya below Aragaki Yui is just crazy. Aya-san is 10x more beautiful and interesting. Kitagawa Keiko should be in the top 5.
I think it is how society is in Japan, you don’t want to marry a strong woman who knows want she wants.(I have to admit I have a girlcrushes on Yuko and Maki)
But I think it’s slowly changing at least for female entertainers.
They prooved that they can be successful and have a family.
I’m wondering why Meisa is not on the list though and Juri.
