Oricon looked at all the ratings of doramas this year and listed the Top10 on their site today. This ranking is about the ratings of single episodes and not about the average rating of a dorama.
The taiga-dorama "Tenchijin" on NHK was the most successful this year and with "JIN" on 2nd place, we once again have the proof that history doramas are way more popular than other standard genres. Overall history, medical and detective doramas are still the most popular on Japanese TV.

yeah the following genre still tops every year…I think Japanese people really likes misteries and of course history will never get of the track
for me I still really think that JIN is the best drama this year:D
and I’m also really glad that welcame did great I really hope that kurakana can have more attention now
I hope a drama for her this 2010 not an NHK 15min morning drama but a usual 45-50min drama I don’t mind a supprting role….she can act she needs more attention IMO.
