Campaign with Kurashina canceled due to tsunami

Posted by HPriest On February - 28 - 2010

kura2

Today the Tokushima police with its office in the city of Mugi planned to have NHK's "Welkame" heroine Kurashina Kana (22) as "chief for 1 day", but due to the approaching tsunami they had to cancel those plans in the last minute.

Kurashina was supposed to participate in the crime patrol event in Minami-cho and be a part of the "Making a Safer and more Peaceful City Campaign." However, authorities in Minami decided that it would be too dangerous to follow the schedule and canceled the campaign. The tsunami from the Chile quake was about to hit the Japanese coast and Minami simply lies too close to the Pacific Ocean.

"We regret that we had to cancel the campaign, but we had to put all our effort into our tsunami disaster prevention," explained an official from the Mugi headquarters. Luckily the tsunami lost a lot of its strength before it reached Japan and barely caused any damage. No word yet on whether they will reschedule the campaign.

Excellent doramas of the current season

Posted by HPriest On February - 27 - 2010

The "Excellent Broadcast Program Promotion Meeting" released the results of their 11th big survey and this time they focused on the 19 currently running or just finished doramas of the 5 main broadcasting stations in Japan.

This organization is formed by members of several major Japanese organizations like Asahi Kasei, Canon, Toyota, NTT, Hitachi, Panasonic, Mitsui and Ricoh just to name a few. The whole point of this organization is to get the opinions from all of those major companies in order to make the best possible recommendations for everyone who can't see through the chaotic program of new and old, good and bad programs that air on TV every day. They send questionnaires to the companies and usually get a great amount of responses. In the past they already asked about all kind of other genres like music programs, debate shows and holiday specials, but this time it's finally about doramas.

The interesting part of their surveys is that they actually ask how you liked the dorama, if you watched it to begin with. This means that not just the most watched dorama wins, but the dorama that was able to entertain its viewers the most. Even a dorama with a small percentage of viewers could still rank very high if all of those watching it were blown away. It's the average amount of interest that matters. 522 people took part in this survey, but of course many of them don't just watch 1 particular dorama. They evaluate all of the doramas they are watching and not just vote for their favorite like in most surveys.

Inoue Mao believes in gold for Asada Mao

Posted by HPriest On February - 26 - 2010

inoue01Not many hours are left until the big showdown between Japanese figure skater Asada Mao (19) and South Korean superstar Kim Yu-Na (19). Apparently actress Inoue Mao (23) is looking forward to that moment like almost everyone in Japan and South Korea.

Today was the press conference for Inoue's upcoming movie "My Darling is a Foreigner" co-starring Jonathan Sherr (35). The second big topic next to the movie itself was about the women's figure skating event taking place today (local time). Inoue is rooting for Asada, of course. "I have always been cheering for Mao-chan and even already went to the skating rink to watch her performance. Tonight will be all about the preview screening and stage greeting of the movie, but tomorrow the free skating event will be the only thing on my mind…," she said with a smile on stage. Further she added, "If there is anybody who can win a gold medal, it's Mao-chan. I believe in her."

After some more smalltalk about the movie, they eventually returned back to figure skating. "Whenever I sit in front of the TV, I can't stop cheering Mao-chan! Mao-chan!," Inoue revealed. Of course she also watched the women's short program on the 23rd (local time). "It was so thrilling, I almost had a heart attack," she commented without hiding her excitement. Sherr added, "What about a meeting of the Maos?" Inoue was definitely intrigued by that idea. "A Mao meeting? …I definitely would like for this to come true some day!"

The movie will open on April 10, but today you should join her and support Asada in front of your TV.

Kurashina Kana might do gravure again some day

Posted by HPriest On February - 26 - 2010

kura

Actress Kurashina Kana (22) became the new image character for the "2009 Mandatory Vehicle Liability Insurance PR Campaign" and attended the press event held in Tokyo yesterday.

"I don't have a license myself and didn't know about self-liability insurances, but now I learned a lot about it. If possible, I would like to get my license this year and take my family to a trip to the Asosan mountain in Kumamoto." Kurashina just finished filming for NHK's morning dorama "Welkame" 1 week ago after 9 long months of hard work.

Now that she plans to get her license, where would she like to go on a drive-date? She suddenly folded her arms and thought about this question. "A date, huh…? Lately I haven't been considering that at all. Maybe the beach, the standard destination."

Some have been curious whether she would ever return to doing gravure like she did before she became the morning heroine, but fans of her idol days can rest assured. "It doesn't mean that I won't do it again at all!" The possibility is still there, so let's see which path her career will take.

Kitano teared up at CD-Debut event

Posted by HPriest On February - 26 - 2010

kitano01Actress Kitano Kie (18) had a CD-Debut event in Kawasaki yesterday and performed 3 songs including her debut single "Sakura Saku."

She was overwhelmed by the large crowd of 7000 fans that showed up to cheer her at the event and eventually started to tear up on stage. The final days of the Olympics are approaching and in only a few hours there will be the big showdown between the 2 young figure skaters Asada Mao (19) and Kim Yu-Na (19). Kitano is at the same age as them. "I shouldn't cry like that. I will try my best to be a teenage representative as a singer (just like they are as figure skaters)."

"Sakura Saku" went on sale yesterday and every fan of Kitano should buy it.
