Excellent doramas of the current season

Posted by HPriest on February - 27 - 2010

The "Excellent Broadcast Program Promotion Meeting" released the results of their 11th big survey and this time they focused on the 19 currently running or just finished doramas of the 5 main broadcasting stations in Japan.

This organization is formed by members of several major Japanese organizations like Asahi Kasei, Canon, Toyota, NTT, Hitachi, Panasonic, Mitsui and Ricoh just to name a few. The whole point of this organization is to get the opinions from all of those major companies in order to make the best possible recommendations for everyone who can't see through the chaotic program of new and old, good and bad programs that air on TV every day. They send questionnaires to the companies and usually get a great amount of responses. In the past they already asked about all kind of other genres like music programs, debate shows and holiday specials, but this time it's finally about doramas.

The interesting part of their surveys is that they actually ask how you liked the dorama, if you watched it to begin with. This means that not just the most watched dorama wins, but the dorama that was able to entertain its viewers the most. Even a dorama with a small percentage of viewers could still rank very high if all of those watching it were blown away. It's the average amount of interest that matters. 522 people took part in this survey, but of course many of them don't just watch 1 particular dorama. They evaluate all of the doramas they are watching and not just vote for their favorite like in most surveys.

Lots of numbers, but I guess it is one of the more interesting surveys. No dorama made it over 2.0 in average ratings, a testament to the current quality of doramas (at least of this season). Sadly they don't do it for every season.

I'm guessing the F20~39 group is the most important one, as far as ratings are concerned. That's the reason why bishonen are doing so well and why most actresses can't get good ratings in a leading role whatever they do.

    yep, interesting survey. thanks, HPriest!
