Today the Tokushima police with its office in the city of Mugi planned to have NHK's "Welkame" heroine Kurashina Kana (22) as "chief for 1 day", but due to the approaching tsunami they had to cancel those plans in the last minute.
Kurashina was supposed to participate in the crime patrol event in Minami-cho and be a part of the "Making a Safer and more Peaceful City Campaign." However, authorities in Minami decided that it would be too dangerous to follow the schedule and canceled the campaign. The tsunami from the Chile quake was about to hit the Japanese coast and Minami simply lies too close to the Pacific Ocean.
"We regret that we had to cancel the campaign, but we had to put all our effort into our tsunami disaster prevention," explained an official from the Mugi headquarters. Luckily the tsunami lost a lot of its strength before it reached Japan and barely caused any damage. No word yet on whether they will reschedule the campaign.

why regret? its not good to take a risky move just to gain publicity…im glad they canceled it even though the tsunami did not reach that place.

I'm glad to hear that the tsunami didn't cause any problems or damage in Japan. I was quite worried.
