The "Shukan Bunshun" has some reports about two upcoming Fuji TV doramas. Fuji TV didn't say anything about them yet, but most summer doramas usually start their production around May and can't avoid to get some facts like the cast get leaked to magazines like this.
Their most anticipated dorama will be the next getsu-9 (Monday-9pm) dorama, of course. Shukan claims that Arashi's Matsumoto Jun (26) will play the leading part. They also say that Takeuchi Yuuko (30) will most likely play the heroine. Matsujun definitely is a popular Johnny's, but people have mixed feelings knowing the ratings of his last dorama "Smile". It will be interesting to see how this is going to turn out in regards to ratings.
Another time slot that seems to be a done deal is the Wednesday-10pm dorama. It's said to be based on a script by Nojima Shinji (47) who already wrote the scripts for doramas like "Pride", "Bara no nai Hanaya" and "Love Shuffle". Amami Yuuki (42) and Sorimachi Takashi (36) are going to star in this dorama according to Shukan Bunshun. The theme will be about "swimming" and feature Amami as a single mother raising an aspiring swimmer. Amami and Sorimachi should be able to achieve some solid ratings, something that you might not be able to say about the script.
In fact, the script is already causing some trouble behind the scenes. Love Shuffle wasn't that much of a success and several magazines started to say that Nojima is in a slump right now. At first he wanted to create another story with very complicated relationships, but both Fuji TV and Amami's agency neglected his plans. The initial script was done pretty fast and the first scenes were scheduled to be filmed by now, but he rather wanted to go through the whole script again in order to really please the production team, the cast and the viewers. Therefore the schedule suddenly had to be canceled and postponed which left a lot of people at the studio and the sets in frustration. Will he end up exchanging his creativity for ratings? Anyway, definitely a dorama to look forward to next season.
Some more short rumors from Shukan Bunshun include a detective dorama starring Kimura Yoshino (34). As you might or might not know, she's the fiancée of Higashiyama Noriyuki (43) who will also star in an already confirmed TBS dorama this summer. They will get married later this month and it will probably be odd to be competitors next season.
Interesting rumor behind Higashiyama's dorama. At first TBS didn't want to have Higashiyama in a starring role, because they weren't so sure that he would earn them high enough ratings. However, Johnny's didn't like that at all and threatened to pull out Nishikido Ryo (25) from "Yankee-kun to Megane-chan" and Nagase Tomoya (31) from his planned summer dorama. Wait? Nishikido in Yankee-kun to Megane-chan? That's right. Here Johnny's eventually delivered on their threat and TBS had to replace him with Narimiya Hiroki (27). TBS eventually agreed to have a dorama with Higashiyama, so it's not yet clear what will happen to Nagase's dorama.
And since we are already talking about Johnny's, Arashi's Ninomiya Kazunari (26) is rumored to star in a Fuji TV dorama in fall. I guess Arashi fans sure can't complain about a lack of doramas starring one of their members.

:O that Matsumoto drama seems like it will be true.. well it keeps popping up in places..I’m actually more interested in seeing Takeuchi acting! in semi-unrelated news I just read flash forward is canceled.. now we will never get to see if her role would develop more(not like she had that much of a big role to begin with..but still..!) =[

I really can’t see Matsujun and Yuuko. she desves a dorama of her own. I absolutelya dore her, too bad about flash forward because I would have loved to see how things ended for her character.
Interesting tidbits ! If the Amami Yuuki x Sorimachi rumor is true, it could be real a killer. I just hope Nojima Shinji drop his over used dramatic tricks (see Bara no nai hanaya for reference)
