Actress Ueto Aya (24) will be starring in a new NHK drama series this fall called "Junen Saki mo Kimi ni Koishite". The drama will air on Tuesdays at 10pm, consist of 6 episodes and mark Ueto's first starring role on NHK. It will be a love story and feature a time slip. Uchino Masaaki (41), who played her teacher in "Ace wo Nerae!" six years ago, will play her love interest this time. Furthermore it's going to be a double role for Ueto.
Ueto will play the 26 year-old single editor Rika who is really clumsy with things like love. She will also play Rika during scenes that are set 10 years in the future. In 2005 she already had a double role in the drama special "Koto" where she played twins. However, it will be her first time playing the role of an old person (mid-thirties). "I can't wait to try and play the transition of 10 years," she said with a lot of anticipation.
The story basically starts with the future husband somehow slipping 10 years into the past and meeting the younger version of his wife. She's still in a stage where she doesn't want to get married at all, but that soon changes when she meets the younger version (Uchino) of that middle-aged man she met a few days ago. A typical time travel love drama with probably a couple of paradoxes… Popular playwright Omori Mika (38) was responsible for the script.
As mentioned above, Ueto and Uchino used to play teacher and student only around 6 years ago and now they have to play as a (married) couple. "Last time we still had a teacher-student relationship and now we are working together in a full-fledged love drama. I'm very nervous," Ueto commented on that matter.
The production team about Ueto, "Even though the heroine is making fun of her future husband who came from the future, she's still a woman who believes in her own fate. We think Ueto will show you a very charming performance." About her double role they said, "The younger Rika is an earnestly and vigorously living young woman. However, the 10 years older Rika already has some bigger shadows trailing her and we think you are going to see an Ueto that you've never seen before."
It will definitely be interesting to see a mature version of Ueto in "Junen Saki mo Kimi ni Koishite". The drama will start on August 31, 2010.

Especially to see Aya play an older character. She seems to be stuck playing the rookie in many roles recently. This might help her break out of that.
hehe being a male actor sure is entertaining xD You can train new young idols at their debuts and then kiss them in a love drama a few years later xD and so on for like… 25-30 years of acting career :p
