Japanese national football player Nagatomo Yuta (23), who also played at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, was chosen by Lotte as their "Gum Tomo Ambassador" and attended the official press event today. "During a match you always have to run a lot which can give you the feeling of nausea, but that doesn't happen when you are chewing on a gum," he said and promoted the positive effects of gums.
Actress Horikita Maki (21), a current image character for Lotte, appeared as a surprise guest and left Nagatomo struggling for his words. He has been a huge fan of Horikita for a long time and openly talked about it on his blog. When he heard that she would come on stage, he was completely shocked and said, "Oh crap! Now I'm honestly more nervous than during a match!" Nagatomo tried to cover his eyes throughout the whole conversation, showing how shy and nervous he must have been. He still was able to confess to her again, "I've always liked you!"
His first impression seeing Horikita in person? "Well, she's… like.. how I've always imagined her. She's even more beautiful than on TV… What am I saying? I sound like a psycho… Well, she's the girl of my dreams." What features about her does he like the most? "I'd have to say her honest and beautiful eyes. And she seems like a family-oriented person, …although I don't really know about that," he continued to say random things.
Eventually Horikita got asked about her favorite national football player and she said, "Nagatomo, because of his incredible stamina." Clearly delighted by her comment he immediately replied, "Oh, I was looking forward to that question! Thank you very much!!"
Recently columnist Matsuko Deluxe (37) revealed that she likes Nagatomo and at first he thought that Matsuko would be the surprise guest for the event. "It would have been amazing if she came," he said and felt like having to explain the situation to Matsuko, "That (the talk with Horikita) was all just work…!" Well, you can't blame him for being frightened of Matsuko.
