Oricon once again ordered a survey to find out about the most anticipated drama of the upcoming season. This fall we will see the return of the highly popular “Aibou” series as well as the third season of the suspense medical drama “Iryu”, but there will be tough competition with several new and original stories lead by big names. Shinohara Ryoko will make her return as a drama starring actress in “Ogon no Buta”. Kanno Miho and Tamaki Hiroshi will team up for “Guilty” and Oguri Shun will turn into a veterinarian for “Jyuui Dolittle” co-starring Inoue Mao.

There is still more to look forward to. Fuji TV’s Monday dramas always aimed for the drama crown, but recently their stories failed to deliver that certain unique element. This season they will put their hope on Takenouchi Yutaka and Ueto Aya. The drama “Freeter” starring Ninomiya Kazunari, Karina and veteran actress Asano Atsuko seems to have all the ingredients to become a hit as well. Other interesting dramas such as “SPEC” (Kase Ryo, Toda Erika), “Himitsu” (Shida Mirai, Sasaki Kuranosuke) and “Reinoryokusha” (Ishihara Satomi, Tanihara Shosuke) might have it more difficult with the average drama viewers in Japan, but they all still have the potential of becoming a hit. The young cast of “Q10″ (Sato Takeru, Maeda Atsuko) will probably get a lot of fans as well and a lot of women are going to be interested in the story of “Second Virgin” starring Suzuki Kyoka and Fukada Kyoko. Today the actors Ishihara Satomi (23), Tanihara Shosuke (38), Oshima Yuuko (21) and mangaka Kaitani Shinobu (Liar Game) introduced the new comedy-mystery drama “Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso” that is based on one of Kaitani’s manga.

The highlight of the little press conference was to see Ishihara wearing her unique “Arabian” kimono kind of dress for the first time in public. After looking at the dress, people immediately noticed that something seemed different when she was standing right next to the 183cm tall Tanihara. The 157cm short Ishihara must be wearing some impressive shoes under that dress, because at the event it looked like as if she was 180cm tall. [...]

Actress Toda Erika (22) and actor Kase Ryo (35) took the stage today at TBS to present their new drama “SPEC”.

Especially Toda was standing out in her role as Touma Saya, a weird woman and genius with an IQ of 201 who always has her left arm in a triangle bandage and never stands straight. “About 3-4 years ago I realized that while I need to have pride as an actress, I don’t need any kind of womanly pride for acting,” Toda was fully motivated about her role. “The director gave me instruction like, ‘I want you to pick your nose’. Of course it was a bit shocking at first, but no matter what filthy or cruel things he wants me to do, if he requests it, I’ll do it,” she explained and stated all the fun she had during the filming while not thinking about her image as a woman. Two weeks ago it was announced that actress Ishihara Satomi (23) would star in TV Asahi’s upcoming Sunday Night Drama “Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso”. Back then Kaitani Shinobu, the creator of the original manga as well as the popular “Liar Game”, already anticipated to see Ishihara wearing the unique and flashy fashion of the protagonist. Today they’ve released a picture from the poster shoot to give us a glimpse of the dress she is going to wear in the drama.

She will play Odagiri Kyoko, a beautiful psychic who uses her fake powers to solve criminal cases on TV. During the TV show she usually has to wear a gorgeous dress that helps her distracting the viewers from the obvious lie. Ishihara already commented on the dress and said, “I was aiming to make an expression as if she was forced to wear the dress, but still tries to look her best while wearing it. The fabric is similar to a kimono, but it looks more like a wedding dress mixed with some Arabian flavor.” [...]
