The Japanese premiere of the movie “Saigo no Chushingura” (The Last Ronin) starring Sato Koichi (49), Yakushi Koji (51) and Sakuraba Nanami (17) is still more than 2 months away, but today it already had its first screening in Hollywood.
More than 500 journalists, critics and movie insiders watched the movie in Los Angeles. It was the first time a Japanese movie screened at the main office of Warner Bros, but looking at the amazing reception it might not have to stay the last. After the screening the director and the cast received standing ovations from the special audience. Especially the young actress Sakuraba, dressed in a beautiful red long-sleeved kimono with a cherry pattern, was overwhelmed by their reaction. [...]

Today it has been announced that the actresses Maki Yoko (27), Tanaka Rena (30), Tabe Mikako (21), Ashina Sei (26), Renbutsu Misako (19) and Muroi Shigeru (51) have been added to the cast of “Genji Monogatari” starring actor Ikuta Toma (25).

Actress Inoue Mao (23) has been chosen to star in a movie adaptation of Kakuta Mitsuyo’s popular novel “Youkame no Semi.” Narushima Izuru is directing the film, scheduled for release in 2011.
Inoue plays Erina, a young woman who was abducted as a baby by her father’s mistress Kiwako (Nagasaku Hiromi). Kiwako raises Erina as her own child up until her arrest four years later. Today was the premiere for Karina’s (26) new movie “Love Come” and the main cast and director attended a stage greeting event at the Wald-9 theater in Shinjuku, Tokyo. It’s story is a romantic comedy about a beautiful but very strong-minded woman (Karina) who reunites and ends up falling in love with a softy (Tanaka Kei) who she has not seen for 17 years.
Karina about her role, “She might have some traits of an old man, but she’s still a woman. You can see her more feminine side in front of men or when she’s crying her eyes out. I’ve tried to express that character gap to the best of my abilities.” [...]
Today actress Fukada Kyoko (27) attended a stage greeting event of her new movie”Renai Gikyoku” that opened today. Actors Shiina Kippei (46) and Tsukamoto Takashi (27), and director Kokami Shoji went on stage as well.
Reinai Gikyoku is a romantic comedy about an unskilled TV producer (Shiina) and a gifted screenwriter (Fukada). He absolutely wants her to write him a script and would do anything in return. “Anything?” She asks herself and tells him her demand, “Fall in love with me!” This is the beginning of a forced love slowly changes into true love throughout the story. Fukakyon actually gets to play 3 roles in the movie: the selfish scriptwriter who likes to abuse men, the simple and lonely housewife inside the scriptwriter’s script and the gorgeous female novelist inside the script the housewife.
